Prague 2004

This is a sample of the writing produced at the ATypI conference in Prague on the 1 October 2004. There is a gallery of photos of the performance and a page with some movies of the performance.

We covered the floor of the second level public area of the Archa theatre with two rolls of a very thin paper with a subtle blue coating. each roll measured approximately { - }. The word written was 'prahafonts'.

The writing instrument was a brush 2' (0.6m) in width, constructed from two 6" (15cm) brushes and one 4" (100cm) brush held together in a wooden frame and attached to an extendible aluminium pole. The ink was black emulsion paint and water and the inkpot was something we borrowed from the kitchen. my assistant was Jovica Veljovic.

My thanks to Sander Neijnens, Henrique Nardi and Lukasz Dziedzic for documenting the event with photographs and a short movie (Henrique Nardi). Also to Cynthia Batty and Alan Zaruba for help in preparation and behind the scenes and Jano who saved the day by running out to get the ink, which, obviously, everyone had forgotten about, at the eleventh hour.
